Technology procurement services

One procurement pathway, four distinct decision services

A clear procurement service model should make every stage easy to understand. CYBORIUM connects each service to the evidence your organisation needs for a clear, governable decision.

01

Vendor-neutral technology assessment

Turn business objectives, security obligations, technical requirements and commercial priorities into agreed evaluation criteria. Every credible provider is assessed against the same requirements, not a preferred product list.

Assessment approach
02

Strategic sourcing for cybersecurity, AI and enterprise IT

Build a sourcing strategy around the organisation's desired outcomes, governance needs, risk profile, operating model and timetable. CYBORIUM maps suitable providers and vendors without limiting the field to an owned catalogue.

Strategic sourcing
03

Technology market evaluation and provider selection

Compare market options through structured questions, weighted scoring, due diligence and evidence review. Shortlists are based on fit, capability and commercial suitability, with a rationale that decision owners can examine.

Market evaluations
04

Procurement support and commercial benchmarking

Test pricing, service levels, contract terms, implementation assumptions, support coverage and exit provisions before commitment. Your organisation keeps control of the selection and contracts directly with the chosen provider.

Australian market expertise

The independence mechanism

Advice stays separate from technology delivery

CYBORIUM is an independent advisor and market evaluation partner. We do not resell products, implement solutions, operate managed services or invoice your organisation for technology.

  1. ClientYour organisation defines the outcome and makes the decision.
  2. CYBORIUMWe structure requirements, evaluate the market and support negotiation.
  3. Selected providerYou contract directly for products, services, delivery and support.
Zero client fee

Your organisation pays CYBORIUM no fee. If a provider is selected through the process, that provider pays CYBORIUM a capped fee. The funding mechanism does not change the requirements, scoring criteria or your control of the decision.

Independent technology procurement process

From market complexity to a board-ready decision record

The process is repeatable, but the criteria are specific to your organisation. Each stage produces a usable procurement artefact, so the recommendation is supported by evidence rather than sales pressure.

  1. 01

    Define the decision

Clarify the business problem, stakeholders, constraints, governance obligations and desired outcome.

  2. 02

    Set requirements

Agree must-have, should-have, could-have and won't-have requirements before the market is scored.

  3. 03

    Map the market

Identify credible providers and vendors across Australia and the wider market, including challengers.

  4. 04

    Evaluate evidence

Apply common questions, weighted criteria, due diligence and documented scoring to each option.

  5. 05

    Test commercials

Compare pricing, terms, implementation assumptions, support, service levels and exit provisions.

  6. 06

    Recommend and hand over

Provide the rationale, scoring record and commercial comparison. Your organisation makes the final decision.

Enterprise IT

Information technology procurement services

Cybersecurity gets the attention, but most Australian technology spend is ordinary enterprise IT, and it is where sourcing discipline slips furthest. Renewals roll over because nobody has time to test the market. Incumbents win because switching looks harder than it is. Our information technology procurement services cover the categories below, run through the same evaluation model we use everywhere else.

  • Cloud and infrastructure. Public cloud commitments, colocation, backup and disaster recovery. Egress and commitment terms matter more here than headline unit price, and they are the terms least often negotiated.
  • Managed IT and service desk. Where the contract is long, the switching cost is real, and the service level definitions decide whether the relationship works. We compare what is actually measured, not what is promised.
  • Networking and connectivity. WAN, SD-WAN and carrier services, including the multi-site pricing that rarely survives contact with a proper market test.
  • End user computing. Device fleets, lifecycle and support, plus the licensing that quietly attaches to them.
  • Enterprise applications. ERP, CRM and line-of-business platforms, where the implementation partner is frequently a larger decision than the software and is chosen with far less scrutiny.
  • Software licensing and renewals. True-ups, entitlement reviews and renewal uplift caps. A capped uplift is worth more over five years than a first-year discount, and it is usually easier to negotiate.

IT sourcing differs from security sourcing in one respect that changes the process: the incumbent usually holds the data, the integrations and the operational knowledge. That advantage is legitimate and it is also why so many IT renewals are never tested. The correct response is not to switch for the sake of it. It is to run a real comparison so that staying is a decision you made rather than one that happened to you, and to use that comparison in the renewal conversation.

The evaluation is the same regardless of category. Requirements and weightings are written before any provider is approached, the market scan goes wider than the vendors already calling you, and every score arrives with the evidence attached. For regulated entities, the resulting file also does the work CPS 230 expects around identifying and managing reliance on material service providers, which a procurement record listing only the winner cannot evidence.

See the enterprise IT category view for what we track in each market, or how the sourcing engagement itself is run and paid for.

Technology Procurement Services Australia: FAQs

Clear answers about independent IT procurement, vendor-neutral assessment, strategic sourcing, market evaluation, fees and provider selection.

CYBORIUM is an independent market evaluation and procurement support partner for Australian organisations. It helps define requirements, map relevant providers and vendors, compare evidence, support commercial evaluation and document a defensible decision. CYBORIUM does not sell, deliver, operate or invoice the selected technology.

The client receives no invoice from CYBORIUM. If the organisation selects and contracts with a provider or vendor, that selected organisation pays CYBORIUM a capped fee. Products, services, implementation, support, contracting and invoicing remain directly between the client and the selected provider or vendor.

Independence is protected through structure. The provider fee is capped, the client selects the outcome, and CYBORIUM does not resell or deliver the technology. Requirements and evaluation criteria are agreed from the organisation's objectives before responses are compared, and the client retains the evidence behind the recommendation.

A vendor-neutral assessment defines the required business outcome, constraints, risks and scoring criteria without shaping the brief around a preferred product. Relevant providers and vendors can then be compared against the same requirements and evidence standard.

Strategic sourcing may include market mapping, sourcing strategy, shortlist development, provider or vendor engagement, due diligence planning, evaluation design and commercial comparison. The exact scope depends on the decision, the organisation's governance needs and the work already completed.

Responses are assessed against agreed criteria such as capability, security, delivery approach, support coverage, commercial structure, governance requirements, risk and strategic fit. Assumptions, gaps and trade-offs are made visible so the organisation can review the reasoning as well as the final ranking.

Yes. CYBORIUM supports procurement decisions across cybersecurity, AI, cloud, data, automation, enterprise IT, managed services, professional services and related governance, risk, compliance and resilience needs. The method is driven by the organisation's outcome rather than a fixed catalogue.

Yes. CYBORIUM can support an internal team with market visibility, evaluation structure and procurement evidence while the organisation retains ownership, governance and final approval. Support can begin at requirements, market mapping, shortlist validation, evaluation or commercial comparison.

A useful starting point is the business problem, desired outcome, key stakeholders, current constraints, known options and any governance, security, compliance, budget or timing considerations. CYBORIUM can then help turn that context into a structured decision brief.

The organisation retains the agreed requirements, evaluation criteria, provider or vendor evidence, scoring, commercial comparison and decision record developed for the engagement. These artefacts can support approval, governance, audit and future review.

The client contracts directly with the selected provider or vendor. That organisation is responsible for the products, services, implementation, support and invoicing it supplies. CYBORIUM remains the independent evaluation and procurement support partner.

No. CYBORIUM cannot guarantee savings, supplier performance or a specific procurement outcome. Its role is to improve market visibility, comparison quality, commercial understanding and decision evidence so leaders can make a better-informed choice.
